The carefree yahoo group tour de france KAL http://carefreeholiday-ornot-kal.blogspot.com/ started on June 27, 2009 & ends on August 2, 2009, where one knits a pair of adult size socks (with minimum 3" cuff length) using the colors of tour de france (Yellow for Race Winner, Green for Sprint Winner, Red and White for Mountain winner,White for best young rider, and option to declare a country and knit a country-colored sock).
I chose yellow and am using the pattern Sweet Peas socks by Melissa Morgan-Oakers with Apple Laine Apple Pie yarn, colorway Sunny Days: 50% wool, 20% mohair, 20% silk, 10% nylon.
Here's a photo of the start. And I will be posting progress photos.
The spinning group is the tourdefleece SAL http://www.tourdefleece.com/ starting July 4, 2009 & ending July 26, 2009. My goal is to spin at least 15 minutes each day after I get home from work & after supper. I will be using my hand spindle and some lovely "Blue Velvet" merino roving. I will post photos of my progress, too.

I think I have those Sweet Pea socks in my queue! Lovely pattern and great yarn choice!
Also, the blue roving is so pretty. Can't wait to see your progress.
I totally missed the knitting one!!! Have fun spinning that up!! It's so pretty!!
