It started in rain & ended in sun

so was a quite nice day after all. I had to "attend" an e-conference at work, but since my computer is not set up with microphone & etc. I had to watch it on the computer and listen on the phone - what a pain in the rear.
On a better note, though, it looks like we may get a new pickup for the Phaseolus project - FINALLY - as yesterday my technician broke down in our 20 year old PU on the way to our remote site. She was able to reach me on her cell phone - divine intervention here as it usually is impossible to get calls out down in the Snake River canyons - and the manager at the farm was able to come get her. They checked the PU, put in 4 qts of oil!! and were able to get it to the farm. The manager checked it out before she left and she actually made it back to the campus - I was so relieved when she called to tell me she was back in the GH.
Anyway, I had told our Research Leader about the breakdown and talked to him about the fact that we really needed a different truck. He told me this morning that we would have money to get one this year and to ask our finance manager over in the main office to see what she could find. She found some referenced in the GSA site and called me to come over and look to see if any would "fill the bill". There were 2 that did and were actually available, one had to be submitted by tomorrow and on by Aug 12. We got hold of the RL before he left for his meetings out of town and he OK'ed us to file all the needed paperwork for the first offering - Here's hoping all goes through as planned. My tech was overjoyed!
'tP' and I drove down the road to the roadside "wild asparagus" patch that I had identified and harvested some spears for supper. Being really, really fresh, they were tasty & I had to admit that maybe I liked aspargus after all - previously I had felt that it tasted too metallic. Makes me think that mayhap I shall have to put in an aspargus patch here.
