then got a really good start on the first pair of socks in the 2010 Christmas Sock-a-thon - this being the pair for the #2 GS.
I worked a bit on the latest SFS socks, too.
On the sewing front I just did a lot of mending, but I did get a re-cycled pot-holder started. I cut out a cross stitch (I had done it using waste canvas onto a tee-shirt) from the worn-out shirt and added some fabric borders, cut out a backing piece and some "Insul-bright" batting. I made some bias tape from some quilting scraps and got everything pinned in place to finish up when I've the time.
I look forward to the fall / winter months as I can get more crafting done due to less outside work.
Speaking of outside, I am ready to attach the door to the chicken house and have cut out the holes for the exits and the nest box; next up nest box construction.

So cute!! I can't believe it's already that cold there! ;)
Thanks so much - it was pretty easy, too, so it will be in my que for babies in the future.
And yes, us folks up here in the "far-north" get cold "right early" in the season, LOL.
And this is actually a little late for the cold. We've had an unusually warm late summer. The day you got your freeze, we were actually at 33.5 at our house. We figure it froze somewhere on the property.
You do such wonderful handwork! -- and quickly. I'm rather slow about it, I'm afraid. But I agree that I love the cold months because I'm free of garden responsibilities.
You're right Kathy - I even got fall raspberries again this year - usually they freeze before any get ripe.
Many thanks for the compliment - I just enjoy it so much - the craftiness I mean, LOL
