The end of the first full week of 2011

It's back to being cool, but not really cold; dreary & overcast - hardly a propitious outlook for things to come, eh?

Anyway, I thought I'd post a couple of pictures of things I've been working through.

The first is the Shawl Collar Cowl by Alana Dakos, done in my handspun SW merino wool (colorway Blue Velvet), done on my Golding spindle.

The second is my "unvention" of the Mother Bear Project pattern. I'm changing it to knit from the feet up, using the 2 sox at-a-time on ML method for the legs, one sock on a circ for the body and steeking for the arms (added later via dpns). I hope it works as I did not like the seam in the middle of the original bear pattern. I guess the children's acceptance of a bear will be the criteria - right?

What bear? And what children are accepting the bear with your knit pants? I wonder if you'll shop for wool in London.

This is for the Mother Bear Project http://www.motherbearproject.org/
I knit bears for them. I didn't really like the way the "in the round" bear was started in the middle, so I figured I could "unvent" another way. I'll send my bear and the pattern to the leader of the project. If it passes muster I shall make it available for anyone who wishes it.
You can see some of my other bears on my project page on Ravelry.

AND YES! of course I will, LOL.
I shall ask my friend and other internet friends from GB where to go.
