After a week of laying eggs on the floor the chicken finally got it! Maybe it helped that one of her compatriots is now laying, too and got the egg in the nestbox, but never-the-less there were TWO eggs in the nestbox today!!! & none on the floor.
It has been moderately warm around here with no rain in site, so have to do the watering to make sure the plants don't get dehydrated before winter season.
My little onions & fava beans are coming along so they will be ready for winter, I think; now just to make sure they are protected enough to survive until spring.
Unfortunately, it has been warm enough that the 'stupid' garlic bulbs started growing - I shall have to plant some more later on to make sure that I will have garlic next year - I have never had the cloves sprout in the autumn before, but this year is so strange maybe that is why.
I am still suffering from my cold - VERY sore throat and terrible cough - and I am supposed to sell raffle tickets for our raffle quilt at the fair tomorrow. Luckily it is the first shift and hopefully there will not be many people looking at the needleart displays.
OK, back to projects on hand - I have so many and there is an absolute 'butt-ton' of mending I need to do.

So -- if I planted spinach, I suppose I should time it so that it wouldn't sprout in the fall but would instead sprout when spring begins to warm -- is that it?
I have lots to do, too. I keep myself in lots to do. I have been drying pears.
I'm not sure about the spinach and things are so strange I'd not hazard a guess.
Under normal conditions I think that would be the way to make it work. I'm going to cover the little onions & my fava beans to help protect them from the cold & I guess I'll do that to the garlic, too, as well as plant more at a later time.
I canned some pears - 'tP' loves canned pears.
