Family drama

Not that we wish to share too much private family business, but the long blogging absence can be explained.  It is difficult, but things seem to be working out for the best.

My mum is battling liver cancer - and as you all know there is no cure for that right now.  BUT the treatment she is receiving is working, she is holding her own and can stay at home to be doing the things she loves best in her own home.  We thank God for that!

In another vein, our #1 grandson now has full custody of his daughter - the mother leaving the area.  It is hard to have that happen in one's family, but, of course, not unheard of.  He is coping and all of the grammas and great grammas are providing mom service.  Plus the grampas are doing their part too.  Hazel-bug is one very loved little girl and will know that her family loves and supports her.

I harvested some more raspberries.  We got enough prune-plums from the "wild" orchard to dry 1&1/2 gallons of "prunes".  I canned some more beans & chard greens, too.  The garden is almost done with only carrots, corn and rest of the potatoes to finish.  There will be a few more green beans & kale to do, then the dry beans to harvest & thresh and our harvest will be done.

My heart goes out to you and your family at this challenging time. None of us seems to escape without some drama. I used to want to crawl under a rock, but now I say to myself: This person or this situation comes to me because I can help; I can grow through this. But -- when drama swings around again, I have to remind myself of my resolve to grow through it.

And while it seems like drama is something new, I'm pretty sure they had it in the old days, too. My mother referred to "skeletons in the closet."
