March 31: It is a splendid way to end March. The sun is out, we are starting on spring clean-up and I got some of my seeds started.
Onions were in the starting position. There are 50 seeds in peat pots sitting on my germination mat right now.
Tomorrow I am going to go outside and see if I can figure where I planted garlic last fall and then get some spring planted garlic in the ground.
My sister & I are doing an experiment to see if having some spring-planted garlic will result in longer lasting fresh garlic. All of our fall-planted garlic (2017), harvested in late summer 2018 is now sprouting and there is no fresh garlic to use. We use the sprouting garlic, but it is getting a bit "soggy", too.
If there is no difference, we figure it's back to drying garlic for the off-season.
Here is another picture of the day, some more crocuses.
