August 18: Our class was very successful. We had about a dozen folks come for the meeting. First we enjoyed a great potluck - who am I trying to fool, there is ALWAYS a good potluck at our meetings - and then it was on to the demonstration. We had six people try their hand at some of the methods we outlined.
We showed how to dye with Kool-Aid, Easter egg dyes, and cake decorating gels. The examples we showed were dyed by myself and msH - I had one and she had 3 different types.
Our guests tried the painting with egg dye and cake gels, plus sprinkling the dry Kool-Aid powder on their fiber. One guest brought her own sample of a similar type dye so she could compare it to the others' results. All in all there was a really good successful dyeing workshop. I'm sure there will be results posted on the Wool Gatherer Facebook page

If you're in our area feel free to come join our group - we love newcomers of ALL levels and interests in the fiber arts.
August 19: msH and I finished cleaning up today, also did our version of "Leave no dye Behind" (see ChemKnits video podcast) and used the leftover dye stocks on a sock blank, plus I did a gradient dye on a skein of sport-wt wool yarn with Kool-Aid. All our yarn comes from KnitPicks, their Bare yarns.
AND I will have photos of our yarns when they are dry.
