September 29, 2021

Well, Autumn is here at last.  We have had a bit of rain and it is cooled considerably-all of which cheers me no end!  The gardens are slowly being emptied and this weekend I hope to trim back all of the squash & pumpkins so as to get them to mature & harden up for harvest when it freezes.  There are some potatoes left to dig, but vines have not all withered so will wait for that.     I can wait for the freeze before having to worry about the kohlrabi, too.  I've pulled the cucumber vines and harvested pea & bean seed.  The faba beans for seed are still green so will have to wait, too.  The few winter pears are still waiting and the later apples are coming along.  I harvested the earlier apples during first part of September, made the wormy ones into applesauce and stored the good ones in the 'frig for later.

Craftwise I'm just plugging along on various projects, but did finish one yarn spin and nearly done with a small shawl (just blocking and ends left).  The quilting projects are slowly, but surely being completed.  I'm hoping that the huge backlog can be reduced somewhat as I'm itching to start something else - AS IF I NEEDED TO DO THAT !!!

We were unable to get any more camping in this fall as our favorite camping spot is being closed down for maintenance.  I will, however, book an overnight at the yurts up at Winchester in November.

The mister had his last bike ride of the year last weekend; enjoyed himself greatly of course.  I imagine there may be some more ATV rides this fall, though.  His toys are warm weather things, LOL.
