It's a good thing that carpentry is not my living.................

I went to put up the 2 walls for my chicken house that I have finished. I got them all level and straight and nailed them to the floor. Things were looking good until I stepped back to look at my handiwork. ACK!!!! the right side wall did not look the way it was supposed to, ie. a mirror image of the left side wall, but for the place where the nest box would be situated. Lo & behold, I had put the cross piece down a foot, like the left side, but instead of the top of the board being at 12", like the left side, I put the bottom of the board at 12", so that side is inch&half up and the cross piece is at a slant. I can't take it apart due to the fact that the heads of the screws securing it are stripped (cheap metal). I am just going to have to leave it that way. But, since the siding will cover the framing it will not be noticeable, I am the one who will KNOW though and it bugs the heck out of me.
I picked beans and cucumbers yesterday; picked beets, greens & swiss chard today, canned the beans & both kinds of greens; the beets will be eaten fresh later this week; and I made bread and cookies. A regular Susie Homemaker today, LOL. Actually, I love being a homemaker; I find all of the things to do around the house make me feel fulfilled and good about myself. How's that for an out & out feminist??? but I figure what is IS and I make no apologies for that.
I worked on the corn fiber socks while watching the pressure gauge while I was canning - I am nearly done with the heel flaps.
Yesterday I got Simplicity patterns (5 for $5.00 at JoAnn's) for shirts for the #2 GS and pajamas for whomever will want them in the family and a couple for me (dress and pants & vest). I have some shirting that my mum gifted me from her stash and it will be perfect for the #2 - he wants short sleeves and a shirt that pulls over his head. I shall modify a regular shirt that buttons up the front for the pullover, but short sleeves is a snap.
