We hope you all had a good Thanksgiving (our US friends)

It is getting fairly cold here, although the temperature is not that low the humidity makes is feel so much colder.

Our holiday was nice; we had the son over from Seattle, the daughter & #2 GS, plus his dad & the #1 GS & fiance' (plus baby Hazel still not born yet).  It was a good meal and really good company.

Unfortunately, this morning someone's dog - and here comes my rant! - tore into my chicken pen & killed one of my hens (luckily the others escaped when it tore down the gate).
THIS TOWN HAS A LEASH LAW!!!!!
We always obey it and have installed a very expensive electronic fence to make sure our dogs stay in our yard.
People who allow their dogs to roam and poop in other's yards OR kill other animals that are not causing any problem make me very, very angry.
Why is it that others will not respect the rights of their fellow man?  I know chickens are not as important as some other rights, but 'dammit' what is wrong with people's thinking?

I'm sorry for your loss and especially for the fact that your property was invaded. I grew up with gardeners but my husband has always kept a bird dog. I know both sides of this situation. Unfortunately things seem to happen in life.

We have a neighbor who keeps three Doberman penned in a small yard. Another neighbor keeps an unfriendly Great Dane. Since we have a dog, I try to be tolerant, but I'm also concerned for human safety.
