Missing dogs! have been found

Daisy & Buster have gone missing.  Apparently the batteries in the collars for the wireless containment system went dead as they disappeared yesterday evening.  In between the time 'tP' fed them & when I went to call them in for the night they decided to take a hike, I guess.
He looked for them yesterday evening, driving all around Colton & surrounding area.  Then this AM he went to all surrounding farms & into Uniontown - no one had seen them but one person thought he saw Daisy, but didn't think too much of it as sometimes people around here will let their dogs out for a run.

We are afraid Buster will not survive the cold and the time away from home, even if Daisy can find her way home - he is so old that his memory is bad, along with arthritis & just plain "old".

We feel pretty stupid for not having checked the batteries more often.  We knew from past experience with an in-ground wire system that the batteries can fail more often than one would have thought.

It has put quite a crimp in our day I have to tell you all.

GOOD NEWS!
My DD suggested I call the county animal shelter in case someone had found them.  Yes! a state patrol agent found them south of town and took them to the shelter.  I had to bail them out, but they were OK.  We now have on our calendar: CHANGE THE COLLAR BATTERIES EVERY 2 MONTHS!

Awesome for you! I volunteer at our local shelter and I can't tell you how many folks don't think to check the shelter for lost pets! I'm so glad they got back home. The shelter is no place for a dog and even less so for a pet!

Believe me! I know the crimp of which you speak -- also the sinking feeling in the pit of the stomach. Our Nellie has been so good to stick around -- she's a great pet. But we have had others .. .

So glad this story had a happy ending.

Thank you to all who had an interest in our pets. Poor old Buster was so confused he was afraid to go out into the yard when we got home. He seems to be doing better now. And Daisy - well, of course she is her usual bouncey self - I don't think she knew anything was wrong.
