When life throws one "hard balls" - what do you do?

In our family, we huddle, converse, make plans & go forth!  Last night we got the very unhappy news that my mum - who is a survivor of brain tumor, ileum cancer & just life in general (for 83 years) has had an unfortunate turn for the worse.  The intestineal cancer has metastasisized to her liver.  She is getting treatment and we are hoping for the best.  As my #2 sister states: "We are a hardy bunch & we are strong." and not about to let something like this cause us to come apart.  We'll keep on keeping on through the tears & the fears.

I hope that this is not "TMI" for those who actually read this blog, but as I've said before this is where I put down my thoughts, my fears, my triumphs, my loves & my life.

Mom & our #2 GS 'Mr. D'

I've started work on the test knit - a pair of mittens - for Lori of the HappyCrafter207 podcast.  They are coming out very nice.  When all of testers are done & Lori finalizes her pattern, she plans to post it in Ravelry.  I know you will like it if you 'do' mittens.

I'm also working on a pair of toe-up socks from a mini-class given by a member of my spinning/weaving/knitting, etc. group, The Wool Gatherers (OK, another pair of socks I said I wouldn't do more of).

I'm so sorry to hear of your mum's illness and this challenge for your family. God bless all of you.

Beautiful mittens!

Aren't they though? I can hardly wait to finish to try them on, too.

Thanks for your concern for my family.
