Thursday - a "trip" through my garden"to-do" list

Of which I got one finished this AM - I planted out my onion plantlets received in on Tuesday - I got potatoes, too, but they can't be put out yet.  It's too cold...........and there is the small limitation of space not ready yet ;~).

More: assemble the legume trellis, build the "rhubarb box", build the potato towers; start the tomatoes & cucumbers (indoors, of course), and continue to to do battle with invading grass in the flower beds and the maize & potato beds.
I'm sure there's additional chores, but can't think of them at the moment.

The medication I'm taking for the bacterial infection has an unfortunate side of effect of possible harm to one's tendons if one taxes them, so I have to do any outside stuff in short, gentle runs.  Right now I'm inside doing some house cleaning & I just finished "unknitting" about 6 rows of the Pomme de Pin cardi when I realized there was a mistake - noted by the incorrect stitch count making the pattern wrong - but fixed now & at least not too many rows to re-do.

I'll do a bit of work on the financial records, some garden logging & some more on the Forest quilt later, then outside a bit in the evening for another short stint.

I've never heard of a rhubarb box. What is the purpose?

The cold temps are slowing the gardening efforts. Looks to be a nice weekend -- and then cold again! I am pleased that the spinach I planted last fall is bearing nice big leaves. It was an experiment, so I didn't plant much. Maybe everyone at the table can have a spoonful. Or maybe we'll make it a salad.

rhubarb needs good drainage to do well, & our soil is absolutely rotten at drainage. I had to build special beds for the blueberries, too.
Hmmmmmmmm I wonder if spinach would survive the winter up here - some onions did & a few of my hardy fava beans.
